GAYA: Two hardcore Maoists, absconding for the last around 11 years and nine years, respectively, have been arrested by the Gaya police. One is accused of killing a police constable in a landmine explosion and also in other
Maoist violence cases lodged against him with different police stations.
“A police team led by city SP Himanshu Kumar arrested Subhash Thakur alias Anup Ji from village Pakri under Sohail police station area on Thursday. He was wanted in connection with Dumaria incident,” SSP
Ashish Bharti said on Friday.
He added: “An armed squad of the Maoists had triggered landmine explosions and resorted to indiscriminate firing on the police team near Bhaluaha hills on the outskirts of village Baltharwa under Dumaria police station area on June 10, 2012. One police jawan had died in the incident, while police had recovered the bodies of two ultras and a large quantity of sophisticated weapons, cartridges, landmines and other materials used by them. One Maoist was arrested.”
In another related development, police arrested Bhola Paswan of village Ahuri under Amas police station area on Thursday. He had been absconding for the last around nine years in a case of setting on fire a poclain machine at Barhi in Hazaribagh district (Jharkhand) on September 29, 2014. “The driver of the poclain, Yogendra Yadav, had lodged a written complaint against around 10-15 unknown Maoists,” the SSP said and added: “The ultras had threatened to shoot the poclain owner if their demand for levy was not fulfilled. The Maoists had also resorted to firing before leaving the place.”
